Another first by Hashmanis Group of Hospitals – Which variant of COVID is your patient suffering from?
From a modest beginning in 1981, Hashmanis Group of Hospitals (HGH) has now grown into the best Eye Care hospital of Pakistan. Credited to introducing over a dozen technologies and surgical procedures to Pakistan, the Ophthalmology services, diagnostics, and surgeries done at HGH are no less in any manner when compared with the best Eye hospitals of the world. When COVID pandemic hit the world, HGH was one of the first private hospitals in Pakistan to offer all services for COVID ranging from serology and COVID PCR tests to treatment of COVID patients in the specialized isolated wards. HGH was the first private hospital in Pakistan to offer drive-through testing facility for COVID PCR tests. Today, all blood tests are offered in a drive through environment at Hashmanis Tariq Road. With the arrival of vaccines, Hashmanis again took lead in providing Sputnik vaccines to its patients. HGH was also the first Hospital to offer the Neutralizing antibody test which detects the level of protection offered by vaccines in Vaccinated individuals. We are proud to announce that continuing its precedence of being leaders, HGH has introduced the COVID Variant Detection System through which Hashmanis Hospital Laboratory can now provide information of the COVID virus variant (Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta) for COVID positive patients that undergo the PCR test. The process to get tested is like that of getting a standard PCR test and this test is available at over 20 Hashmanis Hospital locations across Pakistan. The benefits of getting knowledge of the variant you or your patient is infected with has the following benefits:
- Traditional PCR tests may miss detecting the delta variant resulting in false negative reports (patient is indeed infected with COVID but the PCR report comes negative). With this new technology chances of false negatives are significantly reduced
- The knowledge of COVID virus variant is very helpful for physicians to decide the course of management resulting in better clinical outcomes
- It is helpful for vaccinated people who get this infection to anticipate the severity and pattern of their disease

ہاشمانی ہسپتال کا ایک اور سنگِ میل ۔آپ کا مریض کرونا وائرس کی کون سی قسم سے متاثر ہے؟
